Hi, I'm Matt, the owner of Happy Hounds. Our family run business was set up by my brillant wife Helen, but when she had to take a step back, l was fortunate enough to be able to continue to grow what she had started so successfully. Our family includes our own 2 lovely, adopted dogs Lexi-May and Coco, and I am helped from time to time by our 2 fabulous daughters, when their schedules allow!
We live in a beautiful rural area of East Devon which means we have multiple stunning walks at our disposal to ensure each dog gets full enrichment from their walk. Whether that is somewhere to run free or somewhere there are plenty of glorious sniffs! For those dogs who love to run but don’t have good enough recall for an open space, we have a lovely secure dog field just up the road which I can hire to ensure they gain as much as possible from their time with me as they can.
We love animals of all shapes and sizes and pride ourselves on treating your pets as if they were our own.
I am canine first aid trained and have completed a two day dog training course and I am a Puppy trainer. We are fully insured for both dog walking and pet sitting.
We were lucky enough to have Helen come into our lives and help us with our old boy Charlie. From the first time we met she is warm, friendly, kind, organised and professional! Charlie is a rescue with some behavioural issues and needs, Helen won him over in a heartbeat and he goes crazy when he sees her. I love the report cards she leaves so we know exactly how he’s been when she’s visited. I would 100% recommend using Helen’s services and can’t praise he enough.

Happy Hounds Pet Care have been looking after our dog, Jess, for the past year. She is a 13 year old rescue dog who is sensitive and quite complex at times. Helen did a thorough home visit to start with and then took Jess out for a few walks before staying in our home for the first time. This worked perfectly and Jess took to Helen straight away so we never had to worry about her being stressed when we were away. Helen always leaves detailed notes so we know how Jess has been when we get back. I have no doubt that if Jess was to need special care then Helen would be more than capable of attending to her. Happy Hounds Pet Care are flexible and responsive and I recommend them 100%.
